The Poetry Slam has a new featured artist! Athena Kildegaard is a current lecturer at the University of Minnesota. Her works include Cloves & Honey and her recent collection, Ventriloquy.

Athena Kildegaard lives in Morris, MN, on the pothole prairie, where she teaches at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Her poems have appeared in textbooks, anthologies, and journals, they've been read by Garrison Keillor on The Writer's Almanac, one has been made into a film by a team of Luther students, and others have been set to music to be sung by soloists and by choirs. She's the author of four books of poetry, and her fifth is due out next year from Tinderbox Editions. Kildegaard has read poetry on the back porch, in a bowling alley, on the radio, over the phone, and in the privacy of her study, as well as at The Loft in Minneapolis and other more traditional venues.

The Poetry Slam is a beloved event in Decorah sponsored by Dragonfly Books
