Run with your dog! (or not)
EARL Public Transit’s Pooch Scooch 5k Fun Run/Walk returns to Decorah for its sophomore year on May 13th, 2017, at9:30 a.m. Bring your dog and run/walk with them, or, scooch with a pooch that needs a loving home! Or, run or walk without a dog! Everyone is welcome and the course is accessible to all mobility levels. The event helps raise funds for EARL Public Transit’s crisis transportation fund, a program of Northeast Iowa Community Action, and the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa’s emergency medical fund. “This year, the Pooch Scooch starts at the shelter at Wold Park next to the fairgrounds and finishes at the Danan Lansing Building on the fairgrounds proper,” Sam Castro, Mobility Manager with EARL Public Transit, said.
Stick around afterwards for fun and games at HSNEI's 8th annual Spring Event! There will be vendors, a lunch stand, bake sale, micro chipping, pet portraits, raffle, kids’ corner with the amazing balloon artistry of Kevin Lindh, silent auction, stuffed animal adoption, live adoptable animals, guest speakers, a silly dog tricks contest and more! “These are incredibly fun events for the whole family and support two great causes,” Castro said.
New this year is the addition of EARL’s Stuff the Bus Food Drive to the HSNEI Raffle! Each donation of canned fruit and meat, peanut butter, condiments, dish soap, Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, shampoo, and other non-perishable items gets you a raffle ticket and a chance to win great prizes and help neighbors in need. “The end of the school year means the loss of two meals a day for some children. This helps us provide nutritious, kid friendly food to help carry them through summer,” stated David Boss, NEICAC’s Director of Community Outreach & Development.
